***** EARLY BIRD PROMO: P900 (UNTIL APRIL 28, 2019) *****
Marriage is an institution that has been challenged, attacked, and redefined in this day and age. For example, many societies have departed from an understanding that marriage is a union between a man and a woman only. The roles of husband and wife have also been blurred and confused and even interchanged.
Sadly, even in our churches today, we find a lot of people—even those who claim to be believers—struggling with what the Bible teaches about marriage and the roles of husbands and wives. Husbands provide for the family, but neglect their leadership over them. Young married couples grapple with the dynamics of submission and headship, while older couples end up merely existing with each other in an attempt to sustain their marriage. They no longer pursue each other as they once did, and the romance and the passion no longer characterize their union. There is also a reluctance to change. It doesn’t help that we are bombarded by TV shows, movies, and a culture that promote and normalize unbiblical views of marriage.
But God created the institution of marriage. And His design for it is to showcase His sacrificial and unconditional love for us. Marriage, indeed, should adorn the Gospel. While the secular world promotes its own erroneous views, the Bible offers clear instructions and examples of what an exemplary husband and an excellent wife should be.
This conference aims to revisit God’s design for marriage. What does it mean for the husband to lead his family? What does it mean when the Bible calls the wife to submit to her husband? How should these biblical principles be applied to married life daily in decision making, in the rearing of children, in how couples should treat one another? These are some of the questions that the conference seeks to answer.
We are grateful to have Dr. Stuart Scott and Martha Peace as our conference speakers. Their respective books, The Exemplary Husband and The Excellent Wife are treasures to be read and from which many of us in our local churches and in our own personal study have benefited greatly. With their many years of experience in biblical counseling, they bring with them the timeless truths of Scripture about marriage.
